Glenda Jacobs
Women's Ministry Leader
Ministry and Calling
Glenda Jacobs serves as the Women’s Ministry Leader at Calvary Chapel of the Springs. She joined the church immediately after moving to Texas in 2018 and stepped into her current leadership role in January 2020.
Glenda's ministry centers on preparing and teaching women God’s Word, as well as planning and preparing women’s events, such as retreats and conferences. Her heart's desire is deeply rooted in the commission of Jesus to “Go and make disciples”. She prays that the women of Calvary Chapel of the Springs will be strong in their knowledge of scripture and will intimately know Jesus Christ Savior, the God of their salvation. She hopes they will consequently impact and influence the world around them with the love of Jesus. Two specific scriptures guide Glenda in her mission:
3 John 1:4 NKJV (“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth”) reflects the Lord’s heart in partnering with her in everything she does for the Kingdom of God.
Hebrews 11:6 NKJV (“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him”) guides everything she does for the Lord. This verse is the core of her desire to pour into women, teaching them how to develop an intimate relationship with Jesus, the author and finisher of their faith. She emphasizes that as women seek Him through the Word of God, He will reward them with spiritual blessings that feed their soul and grow their faith.
Background and Experience
Glenda came to faith in 1979. Prior to her conversion, she considered herself an atheist and had been involved in seeking power and wisdom through the occult and witchcraft for a couple of years. Her salvation occurred when she had an encounter with demonic forces that was taking her life, and Jesus divinely and supernaturally intervened, literally saving her soul that day. Her eyes and ears were opened to the truth of Salvation through the blood of Jesus. Upon realizing God was real and Jesus was alive, her dead soul was quickened alive in Christ, and she fell in love with Jesus that very moment. He has never left her from that day forward.
Glenda was asked to pray about stepping into leadership by the previous Women’s Ministry leader. She had been mentored by very strong Christian women leaders since 1979 and heard the voice of God say: “I’ve poured into you all these years, it's time for you to pour into others!”. Having served as support staff for many years, God called her to now lead.
Glenda's ministry calling was born out of her relationship with the Living God starting in 1979. After her conversion, she was grafted into a strong, sound doctrine Bible believing church where she had strong Christian women leaders, including Kay Smith, Pastor Chuck Smith’s wife and founder of the Calvary Chapel - Jesus Movement.
Glenda worked in the banking industry for over 20 years, and also held a position as an administrative assistant in steel manufacturing. She later applied the wisdom and experience learned in the secular realm when she went on staff at the mega church Calvary Chapel of Downey in California. She initially served as a secretary before transferring to the on-site Christian School there after five years. As an assistant pastor’s wife, she was trained in Christian women leadership by watching and participating in the planning and execution of various conferences, events, and retreats. She believes that knowing and experiencing first hand sound doctrine, along with the infilling of God’s Spirit, allows believers to rightly divide the Word of truth and avoid the enemy’s false teachings. She holds a high school education, having graduated from Huntington Park, California.
Family and Personal Life
A unique insight into Glenda's personal life is that while many see God in nature, she sees God in dreams and visions. He often gives her dreams detailing events He has inspired her to plan, including specific details like setup or theme. As a visual learner, seeing it in a dream helps her duplicate it in reality, and she always trusts Him to partner with her to minister to the women.
Outside of her ministry duties, Glenda’s favorite activities include Bible study and research, listening to podcasts by her favorite pastors (especially their teachings on the books of the Bible she is studying with the women), and fellowshipping with her sisters in Christ. For hobbies, she loves working with her hands, such as crocheting, and enjoys journaling, Mahjong, solitaire, and mental puzzles. She also loves finding bargains galore at thrift store shopping, yard sales, and estate sales, which makes it possible for her to give gifts to friends and family on a shoestring budget.
Glenda is married to Wayne Jacobs, and they have celebrated 35 years of marriage. They have five children: Victor, Lenny, Tiffani, Susanna, and William. Glenda loves spending time with her husband and children, and she treasures opportunities to take care of her grandchildren.
