Joe Godina

Ministry and Calling

Joe Godina serves Calvary Chapel of the Springs as the worship leader of the church, overseeing the media and sound ministry, and serving as an elder supporting our pastor.

Joe has been serving the Lord for 40 years, having been introduced to the Lord by his brother four decades ago. He has been attending Calvary Chapel for 25 years, all of which have been at Calvary Chapel of the Springs. He started leading worship over 23 years ago, but his journey into worship ministry began 38 years ago when he heard an audible voice from the Lord tell him to begin to play guitar. This calling made a way for him to lead worship.

Joe notes that he initially just wanted to learn how to play guitar, and God placed the desire for him to learn. He likens his experience to that of Moses, who wanted to know why the bush was not consumed by fire and consequently ended up leading God’s people. His primary motivation and heart for ministry is, “seeing what I do for God as an audience of One!”

Background and Experience

Joe graduated high school in San Marcos, TX. He is an ordained minister through Calvary Chapel of the Springs and he cites God fearing worship leaders and brothers in Christ as influential to him. In addition to his ministry roles, Joe has an extensive musical background, having played the bass guitar on two CDs with other Christian musicians:

• Sojourners: This Christian band consisted of an assistant pastor, the youth pastor (Erich Siemens at the time), and members of the worship team. Sojourner music can be found on ITunes.

• Obadiah: This Christian band consisted of nine members. The main leader was the bass player on the Calvary Chapel of the Springs worship team, which Joe was leading. They were involved in this project for about 5 years and performed many outreaches with Calvary Chapels and other churches.

Personal Life

Outside of ministry, Joe’s favorite hobbies and pastimes include hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. A fun fact about Joe is that he served in the Marines for 6 years. Joe has been married to his wife and best friend, Pearl, for over 40 years. They have two adult children: their son, Joel, and their daughter, Naomi.
